The Y @ Cascade Peoples Center has regular programming that engages the community. The following are just some of the activities that occur on a regular basis.
CASCADE ADVISORY COUNCIL
The Cascade Advisory Council is a cohort of individuals that live, work, visit or are stakeholders in the well-being of the Cascade Neighborhood. This cohort advises, guides and provides viable recommendations to the YMCA and Seattle Parks and Recreation on how the Y @ CPC should can increase capacity and effectiveness through community engagement.
The last two Mondays of ever month in partnership with Immanuel Community Services (ICS), the Y @ CPC offers coffee, snacks and a warm place to socialize for participants waiting to utilize ICS’s food bank.
COMPUTER LAB AND CHARGING STATIONS
The Y @ CPC currently has two computers available to the public as well as wireless internet and stations to charge phones and other devices. Unless the space is used for scheduled programming, drop-ins are always welcome.
Every Monday and Friday from 4pm to 5:30pm, k-12 students from the Cascade community are encouraged to use the Y @ CPC as a quiet space to get homework assistance and a healthy snack.
CASCADE COMMUNITY POTLUCKS
On the first Tuesday of every month, residents of the Cascade community gather to share dishes and conversation. This is a great opportunity for neighbors from a very diverse community to break bread together and have a delicious meal.
FRIDAY FAMILY FUN NIGHT
The Y @ CPC hosts a unique activity on the third Friday of every month that’s fun for the whole family. From movie nights to book swaps, there is something for everyone to enjoy.
Rainy outside? Come on in for a “Crafternoon.” We have free, fun projects available or bring something you’re already working on. Check out the calendar to see when the next Crafternoon will be!
Balance out your week with community yoga. This program is all-ages and all-levels with no charge. We want it to be available for everybody! Look at the calendar and join us if you can.
